What links are added to AccessAsia?

  • AccessAsia includes links to Asian affairs experts who have a public website—either a personal website or through their institution that refers to the expert and his or her work, research, projects, and publications. Links to online CVs are also appropriate.

What are the criteria for an “Asian Affairs expert”?

  • The expert is currently employed in a position that involves contemporary, policy-relevant Asian affairs (for example, Asian business, economics, foreign relations, government, energy, environment, health, modern history, security, religion, science, and technology).

I would like to join AccessAsia but do not have a personal website. What should I do?

If you are currently contributing to the field of contemporary Asian affairs but do not have a website (either a personal website or a website associated with your organization), then there are several free or inexpensive services you can use to share your research interests and background online.

Academia.edu – Academia.edu is a free academic social-networking service where you can highlight your research and papers and host your own webpage.

Create a website to highlight your work and research – There are a number of inexpensive or free options online where you can build your own personal website and upload your resume, research, and more.

NBR does not endorse any particular web-hosting site. The sites listed above are merely a sample of what is available online.

What links are not accepted for inclusion in AccessAsia?

  • Sites not officially connected to or created by the expert in question, such as pages about the expert on Wikipedia.
  • Links representing students who are currently enrolled in a graduate program. Please apply for inclusion after you have completed your degree and are working in a field directly involved with contemporary Asian affairs.
  • Links representing specialists who focus on the arts and humanities (for example, Asian art, early and pre-modern Asian history, linguistics, and Asian literature.)
  • Links representing applicants who lived in Asia for the last 10 years but who are not involved in a position that is directly involved with or related to contemporary Asian affairs.
